The Lighthouse Project Presents: Residents Showcase
Saturday, 21 November, 2015 - 22:00
Sin City, Swansea.
After what can only be described as the perfect way to start the academic year. Kevin Knapp gracing the decks with his bouncy, bassy and perfectly formed house music, we now push onto different matters. A resident DJ is the corner stone of every single night club/ music night. A lot of the time you don't know who they are and a lot of people wont even notice them. But at The LHP we are genuinely proud of our resident DJ's.
They never fail to produce the finest in recent and old school house and techo. Each resident with a different style and a completely different sound. We thought the next event be the perfect opportunity to showcase some of the talent we have at the LHP.
Here they are:
What is there not to say about Nicky? He probably more club experience than all of our residents put together (bar one) and has quickly become our right-hand man at The LHP. Nicky has been a part of the scene for a long time, previously being the resident DJ at JNK, a night that saw some of the biggest names in the house and techno game come to Swansea. JNK is one of the reasons The LHP started and became what it is today. Nicky is a hugely varied DJ with a monumental back catalog as well as having produced some of his own tracks, remixes and bootlegs. Nicky samples musical influences from all over the house and techno spectrum, however, he mainly draws from the likes of Steffi, Prosumer, and Alan Fitzpatrick. Nicky has solidified himself within The LHP family and he wont be going anywhere for a long time!
Having set up The LHP with Stu back in 2013, Tom is at the forefront of everything we do. Having been a lover of house music from an early age, Tom draws his influences from an eclectic mix of artists including Jamie Jones, Loco Dice, Maceo Plex, Bonobo and Little Dragon. He names his favourite house tune as Maceo Plex - Love Somebody Else. A massive crowd pleaser and showman, his track selection always reflects the mood of what's in front of him. If you look at our previous bookings, its no surprise he states his favourite label is Hot Creations. His career highlights include emailing Annie Mac as soon as he got back from his first trip to Ibiza, declaring his love for her. And also asking James Zabiela, 'Why his Grandma wasn't here?' when he played at JNK. The consummate professional and face of the LHP, the night wouldn't be where it was without him.
As one of the co-founders of The LHP, Stu spent the full winter of 2013/14 in a dingy bedroom in Cardiff, learning how to DJ on a knackered set of turntables, a gemini mixer and an S2 controller. This, coupled with his extensive knowledge of a wide range of melodic, techy house music, Stu very quickly became a resident that fit in perfectly with everything we do at The LHP. His knowledge of melodic music and depth of understanding surpasses most, taking his musical influences from the likes of Kolsch, David August, Solomun, NTFO, Clint Stewart and Audiojack. He states his favourite track as Deadmau5 - Strobe or Booka Shade - In White Rooms. Which links to one of his favourite clubbing moments, waiting patiently for Booka to play 'In White Rooms' in Motion, whilst holding out for a piss for an hour and a half. Stu is responsible for bringing some of the top names in our industry to Swansea and has a keen eye for seeking out new talent and bringing that talent to The LHP. He is a key, driving force behind everything that we do and without him, The LHP wouldn't be what it is today.
As well as providing a bit of eye candy for the females, Lewis also brings a lot to The LHP in terms of musical style and quality. Taking influences from Tale of Us, Maceo Plex and Enzo Siragusa, his track selection of drawn out, melodic tech house and techno appeals massively to us and the more knowledgable music lovers amongst the crowd. His favourite track is Ricardo Villalobos - Dexter and favourite club/festival experience is Sankeys, Ibiza and Elrow at Off Sonar, Barcelona. At ease behind the ones and twos on his own, or with his partner in crime Nicholas George, Lewis has a strong future with us one way or another!
We came across Jake when he sent us a mix when we were on the lookout for a new resident DJ. As soon as we heard it, we knew it was what we needed. Jake’s impressive catalogue of the deep and dark spectrum of the scene always impresses us every time we here him and his track selection is spot on. His favourite DJ is Dyed Soundorom and best experience was Villalobos at his recent outing to Dekmantel.
Matt has been on of our ticket sellers for a good while and always delivered, He has a serious love for house and techno and we though we would give Matt a shot at starting some of our coming up gigs. This will be his first time playing and we are excited to see him play!
Now you know our residents, its time you heard them. Come and pay us a visit for what we are sure will be another wicked audio and visual experience.
Look forward to seeing you there
